John Adler (D-NJ)
Overturning the status quo since 1882, Democrat John Adler narrowly defeated his Republican opponent in one of this year's most-watched House races.
Tom Allen (D-ME)
Despite a strong and aggressive campaign, Tom Allen was unable to defeat 11-year Senate incumbent Susan Collins.
Jason Altmire (D-PA)
Rep. Altmire staved off his challenger, whom he beat in 2006, and won re-election in Pennsylvania's 4th district.
Sam Bennett (D-PA)
Despite running a tough campaign, Bennett was unable to beat incumbent Rep. Charles Dent in 2008.
Charlie Brown (D-CA)
Ballots are still being processed in this close race in California's 4th district.
Darcy Burner (D-WA)
Burner conceded to incumbent Rep. Dave Reichert several days after the election. She trailed by roughly 4 percent of the vote.
Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA)
Kathy delivered on what was predicted to be a major upset in Pennsylvania's 4th District by outing 7-term incumbent Phil English.
Donna Edwards (D-MD)
After an astonishing primary win, Edwards won the general election by attaining more that 85 percent of the votes in Maryland's 4th district.
Bill Foster (D-IL)
After winning a special election in summer of 2008, Bil Foster came back even stronger for the general election and secured his place as representative for Illinois' 14th district.
Al Franken (D-MN)
A vote recount has been scheduled for the race between incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman and Council-endorsed challenger Al Franken. The recount could last well into December.
Alan Grayson (D-FL)
Staunch progressive Alan Grayson decisively defeated a 4-term incumbent to win the general election.
John Hall (D-CT)
In upstate New York, Democrat John Hall won his bid for re-election in a district that John McCain won.
Jim Himes (D-CT)
Jim Himes delivered a major upset to 21-year incumbent Chris Shay's by winning the general election in Connecticut's 4th district.
Tim Johnson (D-SD)
South Dakotans enthusiastically re-elected progressive Sen. Tim Johnson, 62%-38%.
Steve Kagen (D-WI)
Steve Kagen held back his Republican challenger and has become the first Democrat in 30 years to win re-election in Wisconsin's 8th district.
Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH)
The ballots are still being processed for this undecided race in a key battleground state.
Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Long-time Council supporter Sen. Frank Lautenberg overcame a surprising primary challenge and went on to win re-election by almost half a million votes.
Nick Leibham (D-CA)
Nick Leibham ran a great campaign, but was unable to unseat incumbent Rep. Brian Bilbray.
Ashwin Madia (D-MN)
Iraq war veteran and progressive candidate Ashwin Madia lost to Republican candidate Erik Paulsen in this closely-watched race.
Dan Maffei (D-NY)
After a narrow loss in 2006, Maffei came back strong and beat his Republican opponent in 2008.
Betsy Markey (D-CO)
Betsey Markey is helping turn Colorado blue by beating a well-known conservative incumbent in Colorado's 4th district.
Jim Martin (D-GA)
Due to Georgia's unique election rules, which require a victor to have "50+1"% of the votes, Jim Martin will likely be in a runoff election against Sen. Saxby Chambliss on December 2.
Eric Massa (D-NY)
Building on his grassroots network from the last election, Massa came back in 2008 and outed the Republican incumbent in a tight race.
Jeff Merkley (D-OR)
In one of the most watched races in the country, It looks as though nuclear-weapons expert Jeff Merkley (D) will beat Sen. Gordon Smith (R) in Oregon, after receiving more than $100,000 from Council members.
Patrick Murphy (D-PA)
Murphy defeated his Republican challenger with an almost 15 percent margin of victory in 2008.
Glenn Nye (D-VA)
After unseating the Republican incumbent in 2008, Nye is now known for helping turn Virginia from red to blue.
Tom Perriello (D-VA)
Though Perriello is currently in the lead, ballots are still being processed in this undecided race.
Gary Peters (D-MI)
Peters successfully unseated incumbent Joseph Knollenberg by beating him with almost 10 percent more of the votes.
Chellie Pingree (D-ME)
Pingree won a decisive victory over Republican candidate Charles Summer in Maine's 1st district.
Joe Sestak (D-PA)
Sestak won his bid for re-election in 2008 by an over 20 point margin.
Jeanne Shaheen
In 2002, John Sununu defeated Shaheen by 20,000 votes. In 2008, Shaheen decisively turned the tables, winning by more than 40,000 votes.
Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH)
Shea-Porter won her bid for re-election against Republican challenger Joseph "Jeb" Bradley.
Linda Stender (D-NJ)
Unfortunately, progressive candidate Linda Stender lost this close race to Republican candidate Leonard Lance.
Mark Udall (D-CO)
Colorado voters firmly rejected the conservative policies of former Rep. Bob Schaffer and elected Mark Udall to Senate, 52%-43%.
Tom Udall (D-NM)
Rep. Tom Udall found friendly territory in New Mexico, where voters gave him an overwhelming 61% victory.
Victoria Wulsin (D-OH)
Victoria Wulsin was a strong candidate, but in the end was unable to beat incumbent Rep. Jean Schmidt in Ohio's 2nd district.
John Yarmuth (D-KY)
Incumbent John Yarmuth successfully held off his Republican challenger to win re-election in 2008.
