You can stop war with Iran
Nov 6, 2007
Dear Friend,
If U.S. warplanes fly toward Iran next year, October 2007 may be remembered as the month that the Bush administration began its final push to prepare the American public for a new conflagration in the Middle East. To many, it looked like the 2002 run-up to the attack against Iraq. As Yogi Berra said, it's "déjà vu all over again."
Sequels are meant for the movies, not for disastrous Middle East wars.
Recent statements by administration officials threatening the use of force against Iran bear an eerie resemblance to Bush and Cheney's public relations offensive for war against Iraq in late 2002.
Thankfully, there is something you can do to help prevent another war in the Middle East.
So far, ten Senators have cosponsored S. Res. 356, a bill by Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois. Last week, thirty Senators signed a letter to the President reminding him that the power to declare war resides in Congress. Senator Durbin's bill will give these concerns the power of law.
If your Senator is already a co-sponsor, thank them and urge them to do even more to stop President Bush from launching another ill-conceived war in the Middle East.
Sincerely,
