Revenge of When Republicans Attack

They’re at it again. The other day we wrote to you about vicious Republican attacks on candidates supported by Council for a Livable World, paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee. Today we learned about a new attack ad targeting Zack Space, who is running for Congress in Ohio. You can see the TV ad on Youtube.

Once again, the Republicans distort our positions.
Council has never called for a straight cut of $130 billion from the Pentagon budget. We promote smart security spending that funds programs that address the real threats facing this country and cutting funding for programs that do not. We favor funding modern body armor and communications equipment for our brave troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. We do not support continuing to spend billions of dollars on a high-tech missile shield that does not work. Click here to see a list of the smart security programs that Council supports.
The Republicans are trying to divert attention from the fact that the war in Iraq is a disaster and that they have no plan to fix it. Rather than engaging in cheap attacks and character assassination, this country needs to have a real debate about how to change course in Iraq and bring our troops home.
