12 Days until Tsongas Election
Oct 4, 2007
Dear Friend,
In just 12 days, members of Massachusetts's 5th Congressional District will be voting in a special election to replace retiring Representative Marty Meehan (D). Niki Tsongas is the Democrat in the race.
Niki Tsongas is a dedicated progressive, committed to ending the Iraq war. Click here to contribute $25, $50, $100 or more.
Tsongas's opponent is Jim Ogonowski, a former Air Force pilot and a strong supporter of the war in Iraq. He has ridiculed calls for withdrawal from Iraq as "a good soundbyte," and supports the Bush/Petraeus plan for perpetual occupation of Iraq.
A poll taken at the beginning of September showed Tsongas with a slim 10 point lead. While this district has tended to vote Democratic in the past, it is the most conservative in Massachusetts, and Ogonowski has a real shot at defeating Tsongas.
Please help Tsongas defeat this conservative threat. Click here to contribute $50, $250, $500 or more.
Ogonowski's candidacy is helped by his poignant personal story. His brother was one of the pilots of American Airlines Flight 11, which was hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Unlike Ogonowski, Tsongas is a critic of the war in Iraq. She favors setting a timetable for bringing our troops home. She is also a strong supporter of sensible arms control measures such as the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty.
Help Niki Tsongas end the war in Iraq. Click here to contribute $250, $500, $1,000 or more.
Sincerely,
