Tell Candidates for Prez: Out Now, Not 2013

Oct 11, 2007

Dear Friend,

Joe Biden
Have your friends tell Biden and the other Democratic candidates to TAKE A STAND on Iraq!

Your response to last week's news that the top Democratic Presidential candidates refused to promise to bring all American troops out of Iraq by 2013 was overwhelming. Thousands of you wrote to Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards and Barack Obama to tell them to stop pussyfooting about the war. * (see correction)

Now, we need to keep the pressure on. Click here to ask five friends to tell the candidates to say "No!" to Bush's plan for a permanent occupation of Iraq.

Top military officials disagree with the candidates' notions that we cannot bring troops home much quicker. General Robert Gard and General John Johns, argue, "It is our urgent recommendation that all U.S. forces be withdrawn from Iraq in and orderly but expeditious manner." They maintain, "The uncertain future of Iraq cannot be accurately addressed while the primary problem remains uncorrected. As long as the United States remains, nothing can be resolved."

It's time for the Presidential candidates to listen to experts like Gard and Johns. Click here to have five friends tell these candidates to commit to withdrawing all U.S. combat troops from Iraq during their first term in office.

General William Odom, former head of Army intelligence and former director of the National Security Agency, also disagrees with the candidates. "Fighting on now simply prolongs our losses and blocks the way to a new strategy. Getting out of Iraq is the pre-condition for creating new strategic options. Withdrawal will take away the conditions that allow our enemies in the region to enjoy our pain."

Military experts Gard, Johns, and Odom agree that we must pursue a prompt withdrawal and that dragging out the war for another six years would be a disaster. Biden, Clinton, Edwards, and Obama won't commit. Click here to ask five friends to tell the candidates to listen to the experts. Bring our troops home.

Sincerely,

John Isaacs    Guy Stevens

P.S. Click here if you didn't get the chance to tell these candidates yourself that it is years too late to start bringing our troops home.
