Two Important Iraq Votes Tomorrow

Feb 25, 2008

Dear Friend,

Urge your Senators to reject the Bush-McCain policy of a permanent presence in Iraq!
Urge your Senators to reject the Bush-McCain policy of a permanent presence in Iraq!

The Senate will vote tomorrow on two pieces of legislation to bring our troops home from Iraq and refocus our attention on confronting al-Qaeda.

Senators Russ Feingold (D-WI), Harry Reid (D-NV), and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) are sponsoring a bill (S2633) that honors our troops' efforts in Iraq by prohibiting any money from being spent on the war except for specific purposes such as withdrawing our troops. This limit would go into effect 120 days after the legislation is enacted.

Click here to urge your Senators to support this legislation.

The Senate will also vote on S2634 tomorrow - a bill requiring the Bush administration to report to Congress on the U.S. strategy for combating al Qaeda, the most important issue for our national security that has been neglected because of the war in Iraq.

Senate Republicans would like nothing more than to hide the hideous mismanagement of the Iraq war in an election year. The majority of Americans reject the Bush-McCain policy of establishing a permanent military presence in Iraq and want our troops brought home, but so far, the Republicans have refused to listen. Now, it's time for us to put on the pressure.

Click here to urge your Senators to vote YES on S2633 and S2634.

Sincerely,

John Isaacs and Guy Stevens
