A consistent ally of Council for a Livable World and dedicated supporter of arms control is being challenged for re-election by a proven fundraiser with an established base of support.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (NJ) needs your help to keep his seat.

Sen. Lautenberg has been a reliable supporter of the Council's work. He opposed nuclear bunker busters, voted to cut missile defense funding, and has helped lead the fight to hold Bush accountable for the war in Iraq. Over the course of his career in the Senate, Lautenberg has earned an excellent 90% Council voting record. He was one of only 13 Senators to support a 2006 Kerry-Feingold amendment that would have set a firm deadline to bring our troops home from Iraq.

Lautenberg is being challenged in the Democratic primary by Rep. Rob Andrews. Andrews, who has served in the House of Representatives since 1990, has a 50% Council voting record. He has consistently promoted increases in military spending, supported missile defense and space weapons, and opposed legislation to stop an attack on Iran without the approval of Congress.

Sen. Lautenberg needs your help.

As of March 31, Andrews had more than $2.5 million in the bank. While Lautenberg had $4 million, Andrews is a proven fundraiser who poses a serious challenge to Lautenberg's re-election campaign.
