Iraq ad

The 2008 congressional elections are off with a bang and there are already two great opportunities to build on last year’s victories by electing even more progressives to the Senate.

One of these opportunities is in Colorado, where Rep. Mark Udall is vying with ex-Rep. Bob Schaffer for the seat opened by a retiring hawk. The other is in Maine, where Rep. Tom Allen is campaigning to oust Sen. Susan Collins, who refuses to vote against President Bush on the Iraq war.

Both Udall and Allen are strong candidates and both have excellent records on progressive foreign policy and national security issues.

But Udall and Allen can only get elected if arms control advocates like you support them. Click here to contribute $25, $50, $100 or more.

Since its founding in 1962, Council for a Livable World has endorsed and raised funds for United States Senate candidates who are committed to thoughtful approaches to national security issues including the eventual elimination of weapons of mass destruction.

Over the last 45 years, the Council’s political efforts have helped elect 107 U.S. Senators and 134 Members of the House of Representatives.

With your help we can make Mark Udall and Tom Allen Senators #108 and #109 in 2008. Click here to contribute $100, $150, $250.

In the 2006 election campaign, Council supporters like you helped us raise over $1.6 million for Senate newcomers like Jon Tester of Montana, Sherrod Brown of Ohio, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Ben Cardin of Maryland, all of whom have already made a difference. The newcomers we supported in the House of Representatives have already voted to halt funding for a new generation of nuclear weapons and to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq.

If you’ve never contributed to a candidate before please consider starting now.

Click here to contribute $500, $1000, or $2300 to make 2008 a year to remember.

Sincerely,

John Isaacs and Guy Stevens
