Final Push to Win the House
Nov 3, 2006
Dear Friend,
This is it! With only four days left until Election Day, Democrats are poised to take back control of the House of Representatives for the first time since 1994.
Republicans have their backs against the wall and are desperate to avoid defeat next Tuesday. There is little they won’t stoop to in order to cling to power. The last few weeks have seen attack ads, character assassination and outright lies. Many political experts are saying this is the dirtiest campaign they have ever seen.
With just days to go we need your help for a final push in two crucial House races. Last minute contributions in these races are vital - these campaigns are spending money as fast as they can raise it. We need your help to take the House of Representatives back from George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and their allies!
Please contribute now to help Patrick Murphy in Pennsylvania and Diane Farrell in Connecticut.

In Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District, Patrick Murphy is locked in a close election with freshman Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R). Murphy’s story is remarkable. As a soldier in the U.S. Army, he served in Bosnia and fought in the current Iraq war - a war he opposed. He was awarded the Bronze Star and his unit earned the Presidential Unit Citation. Now he calls for bringing our troops home.
In spite of Murphy’s heroism, Fitzpatrick is claiming that he is making up his record of public service. First, Fitzpatrick appeared at a campaign rally with a group of Iraq veterans who claimed Murphy was lying about his service in Iraq. Now, Fitzpatrick is airing television ads claiming Murphy is lying about his work as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, despite Murphy’s evidence to the contrary.
We cannot let this stand! Murphy will be an effective force for change in Congress, but he desperately needs funds to buy response ads that can set the record straight.
Please contribute $35, $50 or more to help Patrick Murphy win!

In nearby Connecticut, Diane Farrell is on the verge of defeating incumbent Rep. Chris Shays (R). Shays was elected to Congress in the 4th Congressional District as a moderate in 1987. In recent years, however, he has been a staunch ally of President George W. Bush, especially on the war in Iraq. More than any other race in the country, the contest between Farrell and Shays is seen as a referendum on the Iraq war. Shays, himself, has said he will win or lose the race based on his position on the war.
A recent poll found Farrell with a slight lead, but this is an extremely close race. Shays is extremely well funded, both from his own fundraising and from the national Republican Party.
Please contribute $35, $50 or more to send Diane Farrell to Congress!
These elections will be won by razor-thin margins, and contributions in the final days will make a crucial difference. When you make a contribution on our website, funds are deposited directly into the candidates’ campaign accounts.
Whatever you contribute today will be used immediately.
Please make the most generous contribution possible. We can win these crucial races, but Republicans are doing everything in their power to stop us.
