Fight Republican Dirty Tricks
Oct 20, 2006
Dear Friend,
Republicans are running scared. With the elections fast approaching, most political experts expect Democrats to
win the House of Representatives and maybe even the Senate.
Karl Rove is determined to stop this from happening and is spending $100 million dollars in the next two weeks* and resorting to political dirty tricks to attack candidates supported by Council for a Livable World.
Please contribute $35, $50 or more to help us respond quickly and decisively.
With just 19 days left until Election Day, we can fight back against these sleazy attacks, but we are running out of time. Council is working day and night to make sure that the candidates we support have the resources they need to respond to these attacks. A contribution today can very well make the difference in the outcome of this crucial election.
Just look at the kind of underhanded tactics Republicans have used in the last few weeks:
- In a classic “Swift Boat” attack in Pennsylvania, Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R) brought in an Iraq veteran to claim that Patrick Murphy (D) is exaggerating his military service in Iraq. Murphy served combat duty in Iraq and received a bronze star and a Presidential Unit Citation for his service.
- In Connecticut, the Republican National Campaign Committee sent postcards to voters suggesting that Democratic candidate Diane Farrell supported “coffee talk with the Taliban.” These claims are totally false.
- The Republican Party has aired deceptive television ads that misrepresent Council positions on national security issues in Iowa, Montana, Minnesota and Ohio. View the ads here, here, here and here.
- Voters in Pennsylvania received telephone calls asking a series of misleading and negative questions about Admiral Joe Sestak (D). Sestak is a respected thirty year veteran of the Navy who served his country at sea, in the Pentagon and in the White House.
We can help these progressive candidates get their voices heard over the name-calling and mudslinging, but only if we have your support. A contribution today can and will make a difference on Election Day.
Your contribution helps us assist campaigns in responding to these attacks with TV ads and campaign speeches that highlight the true facts.
Don’t let Democratic candidates be swift-boated once again.
There are just over two weeks left before the election. The polls show that victory is within our grasp, but we need your help to make sure that Karl Rove and his Republican allies don’t steal another election!
Please contribute $35, $50 or more to help us respond to Republican dirty tricks.
Sincerely,
