Record numbers of voters participated in the Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire Primary to select their parties' nominees for President. Hat tip to our winners who selected 11 of the top12 places correctly!

The results are in! Council for a Livable World is pleased to announce the three winners of its Iowa and New Hampshire Pick 12 Contest.

Congratulations to first place finisher Lee Daneker of Seattle, second place finisher Pamela Dehmer of Bel Air (MD), and third place finisher Tara McGinnis of Washington (DC). Lee Daneker won $200, Pamela Dehmer won $100, and Tara McGinnis won $50.

Congratulations to these political masterminds!

Contestants were challenged to predict the top three winners of the Iowa and New Hampshire Democratic and Republican primaries. Out of 1,714 entries, only our top three finishers correctly selected 11 out of 12 positions. These three political geniuses were then ranked according to who came closest to guessing the percentage of votes Ron Paul received in New Hampshire.

In the "Honorable Mention" category, only seven people correctly selected 10 out of 12 positions. Congratulations also go out to:

Timothy Barnes of Vienna, VA
Hannah Banks of Boston, MA
Gerry Warburg of Arlington, VA
Ruth Miner of Crestview Hills, KY
Susan Roth of Rockville, MD
Cecelia Luschnig of Moscow, ID
Jay Hansen of Salt Lake City, UT

Here is some more information about our top three finishers.

Lee Daneker, now retired, lives in Seattle, WA. He was previously a John Edwards supporter, but is now supporting Barack Obama. He decided to donate his $200 first place prize to Council for a Livable World.

Pamela Dehmer, a teacher, lives in Bel Air, MD. She likes both Obama and Edwards but has difficulty with Edwards's vote for the Iraq war, so she has decided to support Obama.

Tara McGinnis lives and works in the Washington, DC area.

Thank you to all of our participants, and congratulations to the winners!

Sincerely,

John Isaacs and Guy Stevens
