How much would you be willing to contribute to prevent war with Iran?
The New York Times recently reported that Freedom Watch, a neo-conservative advocacy group with close links to the White House, is hoping to raise as much as $200 million dollars to defend the Iraq War and to promote a military confrontation with Iran.
Council for a Livable World's sister organization, the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation is working to prevent an attack against Iran in favor of smart diplomacy. Click here to help the Center stop another war in the Middle East.
Freedom Watch was founded this year by a group of millionaires after a Republican meeting at which Vice President Dick Cheney was the keynote speaker. Reports indicate he has since "asked a number of right-wing think tanks to start building the case for war against Iran."
Freedom Watch has already begun to to vilify third rate firebrand Iranian President Ahmadinejad in order to build support for an attack on Iran.
Those who oppose war with Iran have to compete with this well-funded and well-connected group. The Center has been working to counter the Freedom Watch campaign by publishing its own ad in newspapers across the country. Click here to help them place it in even more newspapers. At a press conference last week, President Bush threatened World War III with Iran.
On October 9, Senator John McCain spoke of war with Iran, "I believe that this is a possibility that is, maybe, closer to reality than we are discussing tonight."
The drums of war are beating ever louder.
We all know that the consequences of war would be catastrophic. Click here to assist in the effort to prevent military action against Iran.
Sincerely,
