Renegotiate the US-India Nuclear Deal
Help us renegotiate the US-India nuclear deal by contacting your Senators and telling them that we should look for ways to have a more cooperative relationship with India that does not include exchanging nuclear technologies that damage global non-proliferation efforts.
To find the address of your Senators, visit the official Senate website.
To call your Senators, call the Senate switchboard toll-free at 888-355-3588.
You can use the following talking points:
- The agreement allows India to significantly increase its capability to produce nuclear weapons.
- The agreement undermines the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
- India is not undertaking any significant nuclear non-proliferation commitments under the deal as have done the recognized nuclear-weapon states (such as signing the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty or ending the production of weapons-usable material)
- Despite developing nuclear weapons outside the global non-proliferation framework and remaining unaccountable for having secretly developed nuclear weapons with US and Canadian assistance intended for peaceful uses, India is being rewarded with nuclear technology trade. Nuclear technology assistance represents one of the key benefits reserved for non-nuclear weapon states in good standing under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.
- A double standard: the deal proves that the US is willing to allow some countries to have nuclear weapons at the expense of promoting a wholesale prohibition of nuclear weapon proliferation.
- The agreement opens the door to further exceptions and nuclear weapon proliferation.
After you write our call, fill out the form below and let us know who you talked to and what they said about their vote on John Bolton.
